Wildlife Pictures: Gallery 3

My wildlife gallery is a collection of various animals, insects and birds taken throughout the Central Valley of California. Some of my favorite wildlife locations are the Merced NWR, San Luis NWR, Yosemite, Sequoia NP, Kings Canyon, and right here in Atwater.

Of all of those locations, I would say I spend most of my time at the Merced NWR. Here I can take pictures of the Great Egrets, White-faced Ibis, Ross’ and Snow Geese, Black-necked Stilts. If I get lucky, maybe I can get an American Bittern, Barn Owl, Red-tailed Hawk or maybe Swainson’s Hawk.

I do enjoy an occasional trip out to the San Luis NWR at Los Banos. Here I can get some great pictures of the Tule Elk as well as an occasional Swainson’s Hawk or Red-Tailed Hawk.

If I get lazy, I have a small backyard habitat so I can take pictures of the many Goldfinches, Dark-eyed Juncos, White-crowned Sparrows, House Finches, Nuttall’s Woodpecker, and Anna’s Hummingbirds.
