Moon at Lake Yosemite

The Tower and the Moon at Lake Yosemite

I’ve been wanting to take some pictures of Lake Yosemite, “The Tower” and the moon near sunset for a few months now. I used the Photographer’s Ephemeris (TPE) to show when and were the moon/sun will set. Since I had an appointment on Thursday, I thought I’d bring my camera stuff and give it a go.

It was nice to see the lake was full this time. It was pretty windy that evening and I just wish I brought my heavier jacket.

Beautiful image Mike; doing your homework and being there at the right time really paid off. I also enjoyed your other Yosemite posts.

I really like each version- but do have a special fondness for the B&W version. I would have loved to shoot this with Plus-X, Tri-X, and even infra-red! Unfortunately I am pretty severely under-equipped and ignorant of attempting the digital equivalents, cool as they are. Is there even any convenient IR equivalent in digital? How about use of optical filters? (see, I told you I am digital photography illiterate! 😉 SOMEDAY, I hope, that will be remedied.

…and I’m ignorant when it comes to film…LOL! You can convert a digital SLR to IR. As far as filers for BW, there are Photoshop plug-ins that simulate the different BW filters (red, blue etc).

      See you in the morning!
