Mammoth Peak From Tuolmne "Lake"

Mammoth Peak from “Tuolumne Lake”

My wife booked a room at Lee Vinning Monday so the kids could play in the snow Monday afternoon and in the evening I hoped to capture “something” at sunset. Where to go? Two years ago I “camped out” at Tuolumne Meadows and got some nice “lake” sunset pictures. Last year I stayed around Tioga Lake and got some nice light there. This year I wanted to try and get some shots around Lembert Dome.

One the way I stopped here and captured Mammoth Peak from “Tuolumne Lake”.

I moved on and found my location for the evening. I got my tripod, camera bag, coat and gloves and walked a short distance. From here I could photograph Mammoth Peak, Lembert Dome and Unicorn Peak if I needed to…..which I did.

Here’s another view showing mammoth Peak from Tuolumne Meadows.

I’m still going through my pictures from that evening and my morning trip to Mono Lake. I’ll post some more in the coming days. Stay tune…
