Last week as I was on the BACKPACKER Magazine Forum somebody started a “Show Us Your Reflections”. Going through my archives I came across several, including a color version that I posted in 2009, A Day in Yosemite. Thought I’d re-process it and convert it to a black and white.

From my latest trip to the Great Valley Grasslands State Park, I saw this sandbar and I thought it kind of looked like the surface of the moon.
Seems that clouds are a rare thing these days, at least when I’m in Yosemite trying to take some cool photos. I was happy to see a bunch of clouds forming that afternoon. Even though the conditions were still somewhat harsh (photography-wise), I thought I’d take a few frames and convert the best one into
After I was done taking pictures of Mammoth Peak at sunrise, I took a drive past Tioga Pass and found some shade to rest. I found this small, roadside waterfall with some ice on the branches interesting and thought it would look good as a black and white.
The sunrise colors that morning wasn’t “epic”, but I like the clouds forming that morning over Mount Gibbs. Since it lacked any colors, I converted this to a black and white instead. I think it really works, what are your thoughts?
Lacking a lot of colors, converting this image of Bridalveil Falls to black in white seemed obvious to me.
