Sunset at Merced NWR

An Evening at the Merced NWR

I haven’t driven out to the Merced National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) in over 6 months. I figured it was time to make the short trip and see what was happening. As I figured, the pools are starting to fill again and the Snow Geese and Ross’ Geese have returned. Since I had a late start and I saw some interesting clouds, I decided to focus my attention on capturing some landscape shots.

I was hoping to see water in the pools around the Bittern Marsh Trail, but there wasn’t enough water yet, so settled for the viewing platform. As you can see, we had a great show!

You can see the Geese on the first image.

Yesterday’s sunset was amazing and I was caught out with no camera in hand. It was really bothering me. I see you captured some gorgeous images of it. Really lovely Mike!

usually I have the camera but there’s nothing here (at home) noteworthy to photograph! I’m happy to have captured a beautiful sunset last night.

Very nice Mike! I’ve had similar situations here in Wisconsin. I usually have the camera on hand but seeing a gorgeous sunrise or sunset is one thing being someplace photogenic when it happens is another. Somehow a great sunset with the neighbors house, some power lines and a road just doesn’t cut it for “print worthy”

I love your pictures, especially the sunsets. You do a fantastic job, and I know it isn’t easy for you to get around. God Bless you always
