Storm Clouds at Glacier Point

Storm Clouds and a Sunset at Glacier Point

Since Saturday was going to be another full moon, I thought I’d drive up to Glacier Point on Friday afternoon to photograph the moon while it was daylight. By my calculations, the moon would be nearly behind Mount Florence as it rose. The only problem was the weather; the forecast called for 20% showers in the late afternoon.

Sure enough, by the time I got to Glacier Point (around 5:20pm) there were lots of storm clouds. Since bad weather can also be a photographer’s dream, I wasn’t too upset by missing the moon. I was treated by some nice storm clouds when I arrived. By sunset, it cleared a bit and we all watched a beautiful colorful sunset!

I have a few more photos from Glacier Point and some moonlit images from Yosemite Valley, yes the moon finally showed up later that evening, but I’ll post those later. Stay tune!

Mike, I love everything about both of these photos! The colors and contrast are magnificent. They say, “Behind every cloud is a silver lining.” In your case, you have found the pink lining, and it is even more beautiful!
