MNWR Update

I finally decided to check out the Merced Camera Club after two or three years of “I should”. Since it started at 6:30, I thought I’d drive over to the refuge to see what the conditions were. I saw some clouds in the sky and I was hoping some nice colors at sunset.

Arriving around 4:30, the first thing I notice was the “main” pool was starting to fill up. On my last visit, there was no water in that pool. I saw a lot of “white birds” in the distance, but I could determine if they were Geese or not. I read reports that the Snow Geese and Ross Geese were here now, but like I said, I didn’t see any.

I managed to photograph a Cattle Egret and Great Egret from the van window. I stopped at one of the pull-outs and photographed some grass at sunset and a few shots of Venus and the Waning Crescent Moon after sunset.

All and all it was a nice outing!
